The Death Light

This incident involves a traditional believe and premonition as I was told later. It happened during the prelude to Gawai Dayak Festival or Harvest Festival. Let me explain a little bit about Gawai. In olden days, we Iban / Dayak depend on rice cultivation for living other than hunting and gathering. To appeased or to thank the Gods for a bountiful harvest, we celebrate Hari Gawai (which is also a public holiday in Sarawak). In modern days, we look forward for the Gawai Dayak as most Iban / Dayak who are working in the city or studying, return to their long house or kampung more or less like the Chinese or Malays do during the Chinese Lunar New Year or Hari Raya. As Gawai is celebrated on the 1st of June every year, we would make our journey back home to our kampung a few days before the celebration. Continue reading The Death Light »

Read more about Emily here and about her haunted one bedroom apartment here.

If you’ve read about my haunted apartment and my roomie Jeannie, you’ll probably know that Jeannie is more in tuned with ghosts than I am. I did not elaborate much about what Jeannie used to experienced in KL but let me share one of the incidents that she had when she was in Australia.

That day, I was having an afternoon nap while Jeannie was playing with the then popular messenger, ICQ. The plan was to take a quick snooze and collect my energy before I proceed to prepare our dinner so I laid to bed and rest. I was quite a light sleeper so although I was sleeping, I could hear Jeannie typing away on the keyboards. Suddenly, I heard a change in the noise. I could hear sounds of a chair pushing back which meant Jeannie getting up from her chair and then shortly sounds of keys grabbing from our study table. The next thing I heard was the sounds of doors slamming shut and then still quietness. Thinking nothing much, I continued sleeping. After a while, I could hear sounds of our stationary moving around subtly but I decided to ignore it and continue sleeping since it did not disturbed me much. Continue reading Ghost Thieves »

Read more about Emily here

While I often have sightings of ghost every now and then, it was always the worst and most often during the 7th month lunar calendar. This was the month when the Chinese believe that the hell gates are opened and all the ghost are given the permit to roam freely as they wish for a month on earth. I guess, in a way, it was a holiday month for them. Most took this as a chance to visit their loved ones and while the homeless ones would roam around looking for solace.

It was the night before the 14th 7th lunar calendar month and I was coming back from the gym. I was heading back home using Jalan Syed Putra. I often take Jalan Syed Putra whenever I leave for work or heading back home so I was quite familiar with every twist and turn. That night, from a distance at the junction where you would either turn to Mid Valley or Cheras, I saw someone standing in the middle of the road. If you are a familiar with Jalan Syed Putra, you will know that between the highway towards KL and towards PJ, there was a stretch of land where the local municipal had planted flowers and pretty hedges to decorate Jalan Syed Putra. It was there that I saw that person. Continue reading Sighting at Jalan Syed Putra »
