Pangkor Island’s Nightmare

Thursday, December 13th, 2007

This is a story courtesy from J

About ten years ago while I was studying in college, me and my friends, visited Pangkor Island during our school breaks. There was only the 5 of us -four girls and a guy (and boy, what a lucky guy he was named Z). Z came from Ipoh so he often invited us to go to Ipoh for a vacation. So me and the other three girls, Y, V and B, decided to pay him a visit while he was in Ipoh and planned to go visit Pangkor Island for one night after that. We went Pangkor Island on the 16th of August (the lunar calendar) and arrived early in the morning. After we have reached Pangkor Island, we rent a room that could fit eight people. It is a usual thing for me, that when I checked into a room, I always check the room and look out of the window to see what is out there. It was nothing much really, just bushes and a lot of thees. After we settled down, we took a long walk along the beach and stopped at an area where there a swing was located. Not far from that swing, there was a big rock adjacent from the beach. If you have been to Pangkor Island, you will know which rock I am talking about because there is only ONE rock there!!

So we chatted, swam and fooled around until dinner time. After dinner, we headed out to the beach again which was just in front of our vacation house. We brought along some Japanese lanterns, candles and started to decorating around since the next day was mooncake festival. After that, we play cards and V about that time decided to ask me to tell them some ghost stories. I hesitated to do so and just briefly told them one or two which are not so scary. Then Z suddenly said, “Do you gals know that this place has a real ghost story?” Right after he said that, the wind started to blow and most of our candles were blown off. We lit up the candles again, and Y and B said “Yes, yes, tell us about it!”.

Ghostly encounter in Hotel Langkawi

Although an atheist, I do believe in the supernatural existence of spirits and ghosts. This recent encounter happened to me 2 months ago while holidaying in Kondo Istana, Langkawi. This is very very very real, right from the start to the end.

In Langkawi, 2 months ago, I met this young chap who’s family is quite well off. Let’s call him Boy. He invited me, my girlfriend and another girl to Langkawi with all expense paid by him. I believe this is something not to be missed by anyone definitely. Fast-forward to on the day of the trip, we docked on Langkawi’s jetty at around 12pm. Right off the jetty, we got to a duty free liquor and checked into Kondo Istana in Kuah which is owned by Boy’s family. We got a room on the 4th floor and immediately ordered 8 plates of lamb chop from the cafeteria. By the time the 2 bottles of liquor were empty, it was already 7pm. Well, as expected the unit was in a thorough mess and Boy suggested we shift to another unit.

Since we didn’t really unpack yet as it was just a unit to drink have fun upon arrival, we just took all our stuff and went up to the highest 13th floor which housed penthouse units. We entered and as soon as we stepped into the unit, my girlfriend felt uncomfortable as she’s pretty sensitive to these things. Although such, not a word about what she felt was expressed as she didn’t want to spoil the mood of the holiday.

Incident at Malacca Hotel

Tuesday, September 18th, 2007

My colleague recently came back from her holidays at Malacca and had a scare when she decided to stay at Century Mahkota Hotel. Century Mahkota Hotel, Malacca is currently located just behind Mahkota Parade shopping center. When she choose the hotel together with her husband, she thought it was the strategic location and affordable prices that got her interested but somehow did she not know that something eerie was lurking.

On the day she and her husband checked into Century Mahkota Hotel, Malacca they were pretty tired after the 2 hours journey from Kuala Lumpur. As soon as they arrived to Malacca, they took a quick lunch and proceeded to the hotel for some rest before heading for their pre-arranged agenda for the day. When they checked into the hotel room apartment, my friend’s husband decided to turn on the tap in the bathroom just to get the water running but to his horror, instead of clear water, he saw stinking dark brownish water. Noticing something amiss, he alert his wife and they decided to call the reception to get an answer for this “bad” service.
